Signal Conditioning

Amelec Signal Conditioning

We were formed in February 1975, we still remain a British owned company now celebrating our 35th year anniversary.

Amelec offers instrumentation to the market place based on analogue techniques using readily available components. The instruments contain no time dependent or microprocessor circuitry and are suitable for use in sil 1,2or3 rated safety systems/loops and all covered by up to a ten year warranty.

Our design & everyday application engineering principles used in the instruments are based on well tried, proven in use for over thirty years, linear operational amplifier circuitry. Each instrument can be considered as a number of functional blocks assembled together to produce a specific control function.

Our vast client base is spread across all process industry sectors; originally to the likes of the CEGB, BNFL, GEC, British Gas, ICI, BP & Shell, today Amelec continues to supply quality instrumentation to the Nuclear, Power Generation, Oil & Gas, Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Petrochem, Utilities, Food & Brewery sectors, as well as to many other general manufacturing industries & the Water Authorities throughout.

Power Generation

In the early days the CEGB approached Amelecsaying they had a need for our type of instrumentation on their power stations. They asked if we would enter into a project with them to demonstrate that our products were suitable for use on their plants. Test programmes were put together by the CEGB and our instruments were type tested at independent test houses.

The results from those tests led the CEGB to issue type approval to the largest range of instruments ever covered on the one approval document. Having also already been supplying instrumentation to the UKAEA since 1978, a similar project in the late 1980’s for Nuclear Electric led to the approval of our instruments for use on the Sizewell B power plant

Our clients in the power generation sector include; EDF Energy / British Energy , Sellafield Sites, Urenco , Magnox , Areva , Westinghouse Nuclear / Springfields Fuels, International Power / First Hydro , Drax Power , E-on , RWE npower / innogy , Manx Electricity, Scottish Power , Scottish & Southern Energy , Guernsey Electricity, Centrica Energy , SembCorp.. As well as many other independent CHP , CCGT, Biomass, etc Power Stations / operating companies, and associated Design houses / Sub-Contractors throughout the power generation sector.

Utilities

As well as concentrating in the early days on the electricity generating companies with GEC & the CEGB, we also realised the need for our type of process control instrumentation within the other utilities sectors.
Withquality instruments supplied withup to 10 year warranties across the entire product range, along with our after sales service, fast response FOC technical support and site support service, Amelec has continued on to supply a vast number of companies in the utilities sector over the years.

Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals

We have successfully been supplying instrumentation into this sector since 1977. Some of our earliest clients for example include; Dow Corning, Courtaulds, Glaxo and Clayton Aniline Dyes from 1977, ICI from 1978, Ciba Geigy from 1979, Durham Chemicals, Laporte Industries and Albright & Wilson from 1980, Dista Products from 1981, DuPont and Interox Chemicals from 1984.
Our clients in this sector include: Ineos Chlor / Enterprises, LyondellBasell, Ineos Silicas / PQ Corporation, Millennium Chemicals, Eli Lilly, Solvay Specialty Chemicals / Peroxythai, GlaxoSmithKlyne and many more reputable companies.

Instrumentation Obsolescene and Refurbishment

Overcoming Instrument Obsolescence in industry can prove a serious & potentially very expensive problem!

If you are faced with overcoming obsolescence with instruments originally supplied by Others, then replacing with a total new retrofit system upgrade can prove costly, involving a large amount of downtime as well as re-wiring & possible staff re-training etc.

Alternatively, simply provide Amelec withthe original manufacturer’s name / part no. / Your operating spec / etc. We should then be able to provide you with a quote for cost effective, high quality, like for like pin compatible replacements for your obsolete or difficult to source instrumentation.

Head Mounted Transmitters

AEW Series

The new AmelecAEW range of compact 2-wire Head Mounted Temperature Transmitters offer the benefits of both simple configuration by way of solder jumpers & the ability to be easily retrofitted into existing temperature probe heads.
Suitable for use across a wide range of process industries, the AEW transmitters can receive RTD inputs from PT100 ohm resistance applications between -100C to +600c
Sensor break detection to drive Up or Downscale & Reverse output 20-4mA options are also available by way of soldered jumper configuration..

AEC Series.

As well as the AEC range of Slim Din Rail Mounted Process Signal Isolators / Splitters & RTD / Thermocouple Transmitters /Isolators which are proving popular across all process industry sectors, there are now further new products available within this series.
The latest additions to the AEC range now include the Slim Combined Process Trip Transmitters / Isolators & the Slim Dual Trip Amplifier which is fully configurable by way of jumper switches.

Other Process Industries

As well as concentrating on the Power Generation, General Utilities, Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals companies in the early days, we also recognised the vast potential need for our type of conditioning, monitoring and control instrumentation within the Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, Food & Brew, Steels and many other general process industries.

Amelec has been successfully supplying instrumentation to a vast array of industry sectors since 1977. This has led us into many interesting, challenging and varied applications over the years.
