rapistA 39-year-old man from Milton Keynes has been sent to prison for seven years for raping a 17-year-old girl.

Omar Omar, of Conniburrow Boulevard, was found guilty of rape at Huntingdon Crown Court on Friday 6 November. Today he was sentenced to seven years in prison and can’t be considered for release until he is no longer a danger to woman. He will be put on the sex offenders register for life and when he is released from prison he will be deported back to Somalia.

Omar has also been issued with a Sex Offenders Prevention Order banning him from having any unsupervised contact with women under the age of eighteen in the UK.

The conviction relates to an incident on 3 May 2008, when a 17-year-old girl was raped by Omar at a house in Towan Avenue, Fishermead.

Det Con Paul Summerville, leading the investigation, said: “I would like to thank the victim in this case and others who have been brave enough to come forward, for having the courage to stand up and bring Omar to justice. It has taken a great deal of hard work and time to get this man convicted and I am relieved that he has been stopped from harming anyone else.

“The judge himself described Omar as a significant danger to woman and he won’t be let out of prison until the authorities are convinced that he is no longer a danger.”
