There used to be a very punctual #1 service by Z&S, which left MK railway station at 07.27, and decanted some 30 Nissan staff at the entrance to Nissan Technical Centre at Cranfield at 07.48, ahead of schedule and guaranteeing arrival before the nominal Nissan start time of 08.00. As there were also buses going into MK in the evening, it made sense for me to buy a weekly bus ticket, and leave my car at a railway station in my home town 50 miles away for a relaxing, low-carbon route to work.
The #1 has now been replaced by a #45. I have a 35-minute wait at the railway station for a more expensive bus, which gets me to work late. So I don't do train and bus any more. Instead of 30 people getting the bus, 6 take the bus, the rest share taxis. The #45 bus is a 50-seater, but I have never seen any #45 bus carrying more than ten passengers, even in rush hour. I doubt it makes money.
Is there a parallel universe in which this makes sense?

The new services between Cranfield and Milton Keynes are nothing short of a disgrace.
