Milton Keynes Theatre and Milton Keynes Gallery held a joint access evening on Tuesday 19th August which was a brilliant success. Theatre and Gallery staff welcomed over 30 people into the Theatre foyer to hear speeches by Michael Stanley, Director of Milton Keynes Gallery, and John Young, General Manager of the Theatre. The group was given tours of both venues by Jodie Gibson, Education & Outreach Manager of the theatre and Natalie Walton, Head of Education at the Gallery. Visitors gained a special insight into the work and current access facilities of the theatre and gallery.
One of the main focuses of this evening was the recruitment of members to a Disability Access Steering Group, which will meet quarterly and advise Milton Keynes Theatre and Gallery on how to continually improve their facilities for deaf and disabled visitors or those with access requirements. There were many applications on the evening, but anyone interested in joining the group is still welcomed to apply by contacting Jodie Gibson at the theatre on 01908 547606 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. "It was wonderful to see the theatre and gallery working together to improve their services. I think that there is a great idea and this is a great start."
"Its not about liking every exhibition at the Gallery, its about having the choice to visit and make up your own mind."
